Turtle Haven and the Region of Waterloo Traffic Department have installed the first of 'Turtle Crossing Signs' just outside of Paris in North Dumfries by Bannister and Wrigley Lakes.
A big thank-you to Dave Banks, Manager, Transportation Engineering for designing the black silhouette turtle sign and to Valerie Pearcey for driving me around and scouting out areas for the signs. To date six signs have been installed in North Dumfries.
We are working towards installing more signs in the Waterloo Region and I would still like people to report turtle road fatalities to me.
To help with road fatalities five local veterinarian clinics have offered their services to treat injured turtles with no cost to individuals.
These are the following locations for drop-off.

A similar project to install turtle crossing signs was started three years by Michele Andre-St.Cyr of 'Turtle S.H.E.L.L. Tortue'( Safety, Habitat, Education, Long Life) in Rockland, Ontario.
Since 2003 they had placed over 165 signs from the Quebec border to Peterborough.
I thank them for their help and support.
